King of Braves--GaoGaiGar

Unofficial Home of YuushaOh GaoGaiGar

Welcome to the unofficial home of GaoGaiGar, the King of Braves.

'What is GaoGaiGar?'

GaoGaiGar is a 49 episode TV series that aired in Japan. It is about a team of true heros who face adversity with bravery and courage and hope and justice. It is about a Giant Robot that harkens back to the great era of the late 70's shows. And it is good to me. Originally aimed at kids for simple toy sales the creators managed to imbibe GaoGaiGar with something special that made it that much more attractive. Could it be the easily recognizable heros? The strange and interesting villians? Or maybe it is the overall package of simple heroics that seemed to be so lacking at it's time of broadcast. Whatever the case may be it became a minor best seller in Japan. If you like a show with fun, action, truth, justice, courage, and transforming robots with hearts of Gold, GaoGaiGar may indeed be for you.

Release News:

I'm not sure how many people know now that I let the cat out of the bag on a forum or two, but maybe this little logo will give you a hint:

Hope and Courage have made the 1% chance of an English release into 100%. Yes, it's true--GaoGaiGar has been licensed for DVD in the United States by the Brave Men and Women at Media Blasters. So far, not many details are known (well, I personally might know a thing or two, but I really can't talk about them yet) but we do know that the expected release date for the first disk will be 8/29/2006. A very agressive date, true; but I know that GaoGaiGar is in truly good hands with Media Blasters (who has reciently announced Voltron /GoLion /Dairugger XV and Tekkaman Blade not to long before that). I give my most heartfelt congrats to them and, of course, to one particular member of their crew who has fought long and hard for this day. As I said, I know this project will be in good hands. Please give them your support!

So anyway, as new info appears, I'll try to keep everyone out there updated. It is a good time for Brave fans, and for super robot fans who might want to give GaGaGa a try with this release.

Let's News:

Hello all, and it's been a while. But GaGaGa lives on, so let's get started with some news updates GaoGaiGar FINAL -Grand Glorious Gathering- finished a while ago and as expected was only a slicing-and-dicing of the OVA show with some TV footage and some additions of Betterman Lamia (from Betterman). Also, some nekid-ness was 'cleaned-up' for broadcast. It did well enough apprently to help drive some more sales of the Yuusha shows poping up in nice clean DVD form and to promote the re-release of the original GaGaGa TV show on DVD (in a nice spiffy box).

On 3/26/2006 the Grand Glorious Gathering Box set was released. It came in 2 flavors: Regular Ddition, or Deluxe Edition, the primary difference being that the Deluxe came with 3 nice looking 'action figures' of GaoGaiGar, GaiFighGar, and Genesic. The DVD's themselves consisted of 4 disks: 3 disks containing 4 episods each of GaGaGa: GGG, and a new super special 'Disk Z'. This is the kicker. Disk Z, in addition to having the normal 'Off Record' bits with the cast and crew, is notes on 'Yuusha Oh GaoGaiGar: Project Z'--a new sidestory in the ever-continuing saga. Currently it is not 100% determined if this is going to be a TV show or some other form of media, but it does show that we aren't getting another Grand Glorious Gathering type of story. Instead owners of the DVD are given glimpses of completely new material that takes place after GaGaGa FINAL.
For those that are interested, here are a couple pictures I found on the interweb (I do not own said set, but seeing this, I might soon have too).

GaGaGa Project Z Pic 2

Thus, some notes before I do my best to post mini-translated images. The new GaoGaiGar is named 'GaoGaiGo-' which I fully expect to become 'GaoGaiGor' when written in English. It's base unit is known as Kakuseijin GaiGou (Gai, using the same character as Gai's name). Anyone who has seen Betterman, will instantly notice the name and similarietes with good reason--this new unit is a co-operative venture between Akamatsu Industries and GGG. Our new unit is, as per typical Akamatsu robitics specs, a dual mode type (like the original Kakuseijins) with both and Accept mode and an Active mode. It will also require two pilots with Head Diver capabilities. Watchers of FINAL (or viewers of the second pic) will note who the two child-pilots are. Viewers of Betterman who were left ever so slightly confused by the ending can see that Lamia is still kicking which a whole new crew of Sominium users.
With all of this information, I'm more apt to think that we're getting some sort of OVA/TV show, which we all hope can live up to the greatness that GaGaGa has thus presented us. I will be keeping my eyes open and alert for more info as time goes on.

TV News:

Yes, TV news. As in, if you have not yet heard on the grape vine, GaoGaiGar FINAL -Grand Glorious Gathering- a 'reimaging' of FINAL has begin this day. It will be showing every Monday night at 1:30 am (which technically is Tuesday morning) and should run about 12 episodes. On Japanese message boards I'm hearing that GGG is sorta a mixing of a digest of the original TV run and FINAL and should, if anything be interesting to see.

Speaking of seeing (and hearing), you can check this out for a 'sneak peak'.

Site News:

Ha! I'm amazed. I've never been warned before by a provider for almost reaching a monthly limit, but I just did. Conservitive estimates puts that at about 7.5 gigs of transfer since I 'moved' here on the 10th. Whoot! I can only assume it was caused by putting up a couple large vids of SRW madness. So, for now, I've taken them down. Sorry all, if you didn't manage to grab a copy. When a better one (or two) show up, I'm put them up for a while (until I get warned again that is).

Site News:

Happy Chinese New Year!

Thanks Daimera, that made my day.

In other site news, I'm still working on other sections. I've been informed that a couple of the old Episode Synopysis are accidentally mis-labled. Indeed they are, two episdoes have exactly the same interior content as the episode before them. That's bad, if just because I no longer have the original text of the correct ones around. So, I've begun 're-doing' the episodes. they'll be a lot smaller and less descriptive, but I stand a better chance of actually getting somewhere with them. Ah, well.

I should also note that I am changing providers for goshouworld.com, so this page may appear 'messy' until the DNS update spreads out across the web.

Game News:

Well, just when I think nothing 'worthy' of GaoGaiGar related news is on the horizon, the famed game series Super Robot Wars announces the next part -- SRW Alpha 3. For those not in the, SRW is a strategy game where giant robots from all sorts of series wage a war in a shared story universe. SRW Alpha 2 surprised us by adding GaoGaiGar to the storyline (up through the defeat of Pasdar). Alpha 3's Mecha listing was released and not only does it include the likes of Gunbuster, Ideon, Macross 7, and Gundam SEED, but also 'GaoGaiGar FINAL'. As a fan, I see many possibilities here for some crazy stuff; Your hoping that Mike Sounders can team up with Mac7's sound force for the ultimate Rock-Out. Already we have pics of J 002, J-Der, Renais, PalaPala, KouRyu, and GaFaGa (and can probably expect AnRyu, TenRyuJin, and probably Genesic. To celebrate this event, here are some pics from SRW Alpha 3 and 2 clips of SRW Alpha 2 featuring the dramatic antics of GaoGaiGar (in Powerful SD form).

Site News:

Well, since there hasn't been any GaGaGa news I've caught lately, what's REALLY left to update? I ask myself this monthly.

So, what do I do now? There is a good bit of stuff left and I'm in the process of wrapping my brain around how to 'do' it. We've got 2 manga stories that need translation, or summarizing in the least. 6 Character drama CD's that would be great translated. 4 drama CD's that could use the same. Tons of various levels of bunk in the multiple GaGaGa books that I have. Interviews with the cast and crew of the show. Basically, a lot of translation work. I ask myself, should I really go on? Does anyone really care any more about a show, now many years come and gone? Perhaps it is time to close up shop and call it a day...

Well, JAM Project has taught me many things, but none as important as:

    Every time you battle, remember...
The bravery to stand your ground, kindly protect 'till the end
That is the Spirit of Steel! OK! Let's Go!

With that, here are thine updates for this day:

  • Extra-->Pictures -- A few more fan pics donated by Daimera.
  • Mecha-->Upgrades -- I added in pics of various things from the GaoGaiGar Units from FINAL, as well as some overly detailed analysis on 'Genesic'.
  • Characters-->Other -- Couple more missing pics now inserted.
  • Characters-->FINAL -- Couple more missing pics now inserted.
  • Mecha-->Tools -- Couple more missing pics now inserted.
  • Enemies-->BioNet -- Couple more missing pics now inserted.
  • Extra-->Cosplay -- A page with pics of our little GaoGaiGar group from Katsu 10. Lots of Pics...lots. And for those who were wondering: yes, we do take this Yuusha stuff to heart far more than any normal person might. Why not, the world could always use more heroes with burning souls.
  • Episodes -- Episode titles for official side stories and plenty of links to non-existant summaries. But the links are there, and only the text needs writing. That's what I call 'The fun part.'
